I appreciate your interest in my images and how they came to be. However, far too often I’ve come across people who are only interested in equipment* with the false belief that only top notch equipment can produce good images. The same people always complain about their equipment not being good enough to produce good images and always want more expensive equipment without actually knowing what it is exactly that they are looking for. While there is some truth in this, it is also true that it is the photographer that makes the images, not the camera nor software!
I’ve made it a rule *not* to discuss equipment except in the context of how they work and the general theory behind them because I’ve gotten tired of the “mine-is-bigger-than-yours” type comparisons. So, don’t ask me what sort of equipment I’ve got, I won’t tell you. Not because I’m trying to hide what I have, but because I feel its a waste of time – time that is better spent talking techniques and artistic interpretations instead.
This much I will say: I use a Canon Digital SLR camera, shoot in RAW and use an all-Adobe workflow including Adobe Camera RAW and Adobe Photoshop to develop my images. And to all you pirates out there who spend thousands of dollars on hardware, but zero on software, yes I did purchase my copy of Adobe Photoshop!
* Equipment here refers to both hardware and software
yes I did purchase my copy of Adobe Photoshop! >> WOO HOO! Me too! lol
What annoys me is that having paid for CS the quoted cost to upgrade to CS2 and shortly to CS3 is the full CS.. package cost, not an upgrade cost which is a bit poor on Adobie’s part! so much for supporting users, no wonder that people pirate their software.
Not sure I know what you mean Fred. You can upgrade from CS2 to CS3 (when it’s released) at the usual upgrade price. I think it is great that Adobe allows academic and student versions to be upgraded to the full version without having to first buy a full retail version.
Companies like Microsoft require purchase of at least one full version before qualifying for upgrades. Student versions are essentially dead-ends from an upgrade perspective.
